Gilbert & Sullivan’s fourth collaboration, and their first international sensation, HMS PINAFORE is a comic operetta that jabs at the British class system, parliamentary politics and the rise of unqualified people to positions of authority. The story takes place aboard the H.M.S. Pinafore, anchored in Portsmouth Harbour, where the Captain’s daughter, Josephine, has fallen in love with a common sailor, rather than her father’s choice, the First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Joseph Porter.
HMS PINAFORE features Inge Illman and Kaden Forsberg as the young lovers, Josephine and Ralph Rackstraw. Colin Grewar is Capt. Corcoran with Rudy Ewart as Sir Joseph Porter, Andrea Palin as Buttercup and Adrian Sly as Dick Deadeye. The production is directed by Chris Moss with music direction by Tom Mitchell and choreography by Heather-Elayne Day.
Playing at the Mary Winspear Center on March 28-30 and at the McPherson Playhouse April 5-6
