AUGUST - Three vivacious life-experienced female singer/songwriters, Rae Armour, Beverley Elliott and Linda Kidder, joined by one skookum male guitarist, Daryl Jahnke, make up AUGUST. Their voices blend in the most pristine harmonies and their songs reflect true-life experience through a combination of pop, roots, and jazz styles. Song topics could include self-loathing, woes of stolen cars, joys of Facebook reunions, unrequited love, credit card challenges, and inspirational songs that are not gooey; all threaded with personal anecdotes and confessions. Intimate, funny, insightful, energetic and uplifting, AUGUST will involve the audience with their warm delightful approach. Equally at home on stage or on the back porch, when AUGUST comes around, it's time to kick back and enjoy!.
ACOUSTIC GROOVE - For over a dozen years, Acoustic Groove has entertained thousands with their highly stylized interpretations of popular songs and melodies. They have done it by stripping their performances down to bare essentials...minimal instrumentation and intuitive, expressive vocals. The lineup has seen changes over the years, but guitarist/vocalist Mike Taylor and percussionist Tony Chamberlist have been constants over most of them. Pianist/vocalist Diane Lines joined in 2010, adding smoky vocals, superb musicianship, and an expansive repertoire honed after years of being a globetrotting musician. Audiences can expect to be delighted by how such a little ensemble can generate such a big sound, and by the reinvention of pop, blues, and r&b classics, as well as American Songbook standards.
