Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering; Everyone welcome jam 6:45pm, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers The Carolina Bluebirds and Friends at 9pm; Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door

The Carolina Bluebirds are thrilled to be joined by Rick Van Krugel on mandolin and Mark Johnson on bass for a fun evening of music from a wide variety of genres: folk, early jazz, blues and country. Ian Johnston plays guitar and banjo ukulele, his ragtime picking balancing beautifully with Caroline Covil’s warm vocals. As The Bluebirds, they have entertained audiences at local folk clubs, festivals, and markets, and are great favourites of the VFMS! Over the years Rick Van Krugel has inspired musicians and wowed audiences from here to the Far East. Tonight will be no exception! Mark Johnson, with his background in country, swing and jazz, brings his excellent musicianship to groups as varied as the Hoss Mountain String Band and Backyard Boulevard. The collaboration of these four lovelies will definitely be memorable!!
