Event Description

On sale Fri, March 10 @ 10am

Arch Enemy’s sixth album, Doomsday Machine, has been heralded as one of the best Swedish metal albums in years. The band itself has been a force in the extreme metal scene since 1996, when guitarist Michael Amott formed Arch Enemy after leaving Carcass.

Arch Enemy’s first three albums, including Black Earth, Stigmata, and Burning Bridges, won worldwide acclaim for their flawlessly executed dual guitar playing and ultra-fast tempos. But things really took off with the addition of vocalist Angela Gossow. Gossow was not only a more than capable vocalist but, as one of the few women fronting an extreme metal band, added glamour to the scene. Arch Enemy’s ensuing output, including Wages of Sin and Anthems of Rebellion, won them even more five star reviews, as well as tour dates with Motorhead, Slayer and Ozzfest. The band has been growing in technical and songwriting ability for a decade, and the work and talent shows in Doomsday Machine’s perfect balance of aggression and melody.

Chimaira’s third album is a self-titled blast-furnace of heaviness and aggression, a dizzying explosion of modern and challenging metal. The disc follows 2003’s The Impossibility of Reason, the acclaimed record the Cleveland sextet spent the better part of two years promoting. The critical and commercial success of that record saw the Roadrunner recording artists headline with Lamb of God and play Ozzfest 2003, a Jagermeister tour in 2004 (with Slipknot and Fear Factory) and in that same year co-headline the Road Rage tour with Machine Head.
